Will 180degrees become the 1st three star restaurant in Eastern Europe?

About 30 minutes outside the old city of Tallinn in Estonia is where you will find 180degrees. This two Michelin star awarded restaurant is ran by Austrian chef Mathias Diether.

Housed in a lovely modern, the interior is as nice and modern as the exterior. The restaurant is divided into two parts: a lounge area that also includes the bar, and the restaurant area which includes a stunning open kitchen. In the lounge, you can have an aperitif and some pre-dinner snacks. Seating is comfortable and there is plenty of room for all guests. Since I was the second in the room, I was able to choose my seat and opted for seat(s) by a small fireplace.

After the pre-dinner snacks, it is time for the main event: The tasting menu. Having gone through it with the chef, I had a glimpse of what is to come. what a treat it would turn out to be. The menu kicked-off with two fish courses, followed by pork and veal for main course. Each dish is visually very appealing and has absolutely perfectly balanced delicate flavours.

Service by the staff was also ‘well-balanced’ with the right amount of politeness and relaxed spontaneity. Where there was not a lot of staff on the restaurant side (there were only 4 tables booked), most people were inside the beautiful open kitchen. Restaurant staff were very attentive and were able to explain each dish in near perfect English.

The food, service and restaurant design were all aligned perfectly, making this a very, very enjoyable evening. For the menu, you can expect to pay a little under EUR 200. Where this may sound like a lot of money considering the location, it is really good value-for-money. This is a restaurant I would recommend to anyone, whether it is for business of private dinner. I would not be surprised if this becomes the first eastern-European restaurant to receive three Michelin stars.
