Wanneer je het restaurant binnenkomt, valt het meteen op dat veel aandacht is besteed aan de inrichting: Grote lampenkappen en onafgewerkte stenen muren. De toiletten zijn slim verstopt achter het wijnrek dat tot aan het plafond reikt, maar toch gemakkelijk te vinden. Dit plus de net gedekte tafels geven het gevoel dat je niet zomaar een restaurant binnenkomt.

Het bedienend personeel is zeer vriendelijk zonder nadrukkelijk aanwezig te zijn. Hoewel niet vloeiend, spreekt iedereen Engels. Helaas heeft het bedienend personeel geen diepgaande kennis van de ingrediënten of bereiding van de gerechten op de kaart. Bij eventuele allergieën kan dit wel eens een probleem zijn.

Op de kaart staat voor iedereen wel iets, maar in vergelijking tot het hoofdgerecht is de keuze aan voor- en nagerechten beperkt. Echter, wanneer een keuze is gemaakt en de eerste gang wordt geserveerd, valt het op dat de bereiding en presentatie echt uitstekend is. Ook op de portionering is niets aan te merken. De salade met wortel, groenten puree en citroen schuim kwam met genoeg geroosterd stokbrood voor twee personen. De coq-au-vin die volgde was ook een groot genoeg portie en was perfect bereid en gepresenteerd. Als er een keuze was, had ik waarschijnlijk gekozen voor gewone aardappel puree in plaats van een puree van zoete aardappel. Dit zou het gerecht over het geheel wat minder zoek maken. Hoe dan ook, de kip was sappig en heerlijk en ik zou het zo nog een keer bestellen.

De mensen die mij kennen, weten dat ik groot fan ben van chocolade. Dus wanneer er een nagerecht van chocolade op de kaart staat is de kans groot dat er eentje voor mij is. In dit geval was het chocolade mousse met hazelnoot en karamel. Wederom was het een prachtig gepresenteerd bord wat vanuit de keuken mijn kant op kwam wandelen. Kort daarna was mijn bordje weer leeg.

Over het algemeen een geweldige maaltijd met prima service. Dit allemaal voor een zeer redelijke prijs, want meer dat EUR 25-30 heb ik niet besteed aan eten en drinken. Ik zou dit restaurant aanbevelen aan iedereen die naar Cluj gaat.

Enter the restaurant and the first thing you notice is that a lot of attention has gone into the design: Large lampshades and rough brick walls. Bathrooms cleverly hidden, making it easy to find but the attention is drawn by the floor-to-ceiling wine rack in front of it. This plus the neatly laid tables give the impression that you are not in just any restaurant.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful without a noticeable presence. Although some far from fluent, all the staff speak English. Unfortunately, the staff does not seem to have an in-depth knowledge of the ingredients or the preparation of the dishes on the menu. In case of allergies this could potentially be an issue.

There is something for everyone on the menu, although the variety of starters and deserts is limited when compared to the main course. However, when a choice has been made and the first course is served, you will notice that the preparation and presentation is excellent. Sizes of the dishes is nothing to complain about. The salad with carrot, vegetable puree and lemon foam was complemented with enough toasted French bread for two. The coq-au-vin that followed also was of a decent size and perfectly cooked and presented. Given the choice, I probably would have preferred a puree or potato instead of sweet potato. This way, the dish would have been just that little bit less sweet. Anyhow, the chicken was juicy and delicious and I would order it again in a heartbeat.

Those of you that know me, will know that I am a big fan of chocolate. So, when there is a chocolate desert on the menu, there is a big chance that one plate has my name on it. In this case it was chocolate mousse with hazelnut and caramel. Once again a beautifully presented dish came walking my way from the kitchen. It did not take me long to empty the plate completely.

Overall the dinner was excellent and so was the service. All this for a very reasonable price, as I spent just EUR 25-30 for the full meal including drinks. I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Cluj.
