In the centre of Antwerp, on the Suikerrui, you will find restaurant ‘De Bomma’ which is the local term for The Grandma. The restaurant has a menu full of food you would eat at grandma’s house and includes local stew and other meals. From rabbit stew and vol-au-vent (chicken ragout) to pigs cheeks prepared in Belgian beer.
For those not into stews, they also serve mussels, salads and different pieces of meat. Service is quick and friendly with food that is pretty good but not exceptional. When ordering, keep in mind that everything is extra; potatoes, sauces and vegetables are all to be ordered (and paid for) separately but knowing this in advance is definitely not an issue.
Would I go here again? Yes, definitely. I love stews and having the vol-au-vent again is by no means a punishment.
